Ghada Al-Khater - Operations Manager

Ghada Mohammed Al-Khater holds the position of Operations Manager in QBRI. She has diverse experiences in different sectors mainly in finance, sports and biomedical. Ghada started her Career in the Ministry of Economy and Finance as a Researcher of Administrates Affairs in the Public Budget Dept. where she participated in preparing Budget for the State of Qatar (2003 – 2008) and a member of Restructuring and Re-engineering of Financial Policies, Systems and Processes of the State of Qatar Ministry of Finance (Singapore) (2007-2008). In the Olympic Committee Ghada was the Head of Development & Projects in HR Dept. where she lead a lot of HR projects and was in charge of the HR strategy implementation and monitoring. One of her greatest achievement “the Automation of Performance Appraisal System & Integration with Competency Profiling”.

She is with Qatar Foundation since 2010 till date; joined recruitment where she led a lot of recruitment related activities and represented QF locally and internationally. In 2013 she was nominated from the HR Department to Head the business support in Qatar Biobank where she in charge of HR, Finance, Planning, Facility Management and Procurement. She has participated in many Communication and awareness activities and was assigned at that time Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Ghada was the Project Manager of the Inauguration of Qatar Biobank by H.H. Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser which was entrusted to her by the upper management. Ghada joined QBRI in 2015, as a “Operations Manager” & part of the senior management and leadership mainly to manage human resources and procurement to ensure effective and close working relations within the three research centers in QBRI and HBKU as well as the equivalent directorates within Qatar Foundation.

She was among the first batch of graduates from HEC-Paris Qatar Branch Campus attaining an Executive Masters in Strategic Business Unit Management from HBKU in 2014 and she holds a Bachelors of Art Degree in English Literature from Qatar University.

Lina Hassna - Programs & Partnership Senior Manager

Lina Hassna holds the position of Planning Manager at QBRI. She has a combined technical and management experience. She started her career in 2005 at Hamad Medical Cooperation as a lab technologist. It provided her with a rich knowledge and experience of technical aspects in biomedical science, which helps in her current position. In 2009 she joined Qatar Foundation, specifically Qatar Research Leadership Program (QRLP) with an ambition to lead and actively participate in the development and administration of research and development. As part of this program, she worked in different national and international institutes where she led & participated in different projects, got hands on experience and gained important skills among the projects that she led is the development of market access plan for new drug discovered by Sanofi Aventis in Paris.

After successfully graduating from QRLP, Lina joined QBRI in 2011 as Planning Manager and played an important role in launching the institute. She actively participated in building the infrastructure and attracting highly qualified talents. In QBRI she is mainly in charge of business planning and monitoring, capacity building programs and research partnerships. She led and participated in strategically important projects e.g. QBRI integration with Shafallah Medical Genetic Center and Hamda Bin Khalifa University, the building of first QBRI Research lab, the development of Summer Research Program, the development of QBRI Risk Register, the partnership with Hamad Medical Collaboration ---etc.

Lina has multidimensional educational experiences ranging from a B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Science, Qatar University to a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Qatar University which has enhanced her administration knowledge and ability. She recently focused on project and portfolio management and has been certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.

Hamda Al-Mutawa - Research Quality Assurance Manager

Hamda Al-Mutawa holds the position of Research Quality Assurance Manager at QBRI since April 2014. This position is aimed to oversee the institutional Compliance Programs related to safety, Quality and facilities. The Compliance Management program ensures that the institute management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of national & international regulatory agencies (SCH, MOE, GLP, GMP, HIPAA, OSHA), that institutional policies and procedures are being followed, and that performance in the institute meets the organization’s Standards of Conduct.

Hamda’s position also involves developing, implementing, and maintaining organization-wide total quality management and quality assurance (TQM/QA) programs. She provides TQM/QA assistance to senior management, principal investigators, and laboratory managers and serves as the QBRI representative on quality & safety matters. Ms. Al-Mutawa is also responsible for assisting the institute obtaining international recognition, maintaining CAP (College of American Pathologists) accreditation and ISO Quality Management Systems, ensuring that policies and procedures are developed and are closely followed to achieve sustainable highest standards of performance, while maintaining health and safety measures and disaster preparedness through her role as IBO (Institutional Biosafety Officer) conducting safety audits and enhancement of safety awareness culture.

Ms. Al-Mutawa acts as an advisor to the QBRI management & scientists through monitoring and reporting results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the institute, and to develops, initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conducts. The Compliance Management Office is representing the institute in Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) to implement all necessary safety measures to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective safety compliance programs for research and laboratories

Ms. Al-Mutawa received her B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Science Program from Qatar University. Prior to her current position, she was Quality Manager in Shafallah Medical Genetics Center for 4 years and she was engaged in research and laboratory management for molecular and genetics applications. Her certification as ISO 17025, & ISO 15089 Lead Auditor and Certified ASQ Six Sigma- green belt that helped her promoting continuous process improvement (CPI) methodologies, as well as implementation of effective corrective actions and problem solving solutions using Root Cause Analysis tools.

Mary Neckles - Research Finance Manager

Ms. Mary Neckles has obtained her BSc in Accounting in Finance in 2001 from London South Bank University, United Kingdom. She is also a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Mary Neckles has worked in a number of profit and non-profit organizations and most recently the National Health Service in the UK, one of the largest and most complete organization in the world. She has been part of a senior management team for the past 13 years, she was Head of Financial and Management Accounts in her last role, responsible for a large finance team. Her experience range from reporting and financial management, business care review and the yearly production of the final accounts for the Clinical Commissioning Group and Primary Care Trusts, where she managed budgets of up to 1.6 billion pounds for capital and revenue projects.

Mary Neckles has joined the QBRI team as the Research Finance Manager and will be supporting the Executive Director and the management team in order to achieve its strategic objectives and engage in financial activities for project delivery.
